JOB DESCRIPTION



Clinical Responsibilities:



Provide expert clinical care to patients within the designated specialty or department.



Diagnose and treat patients according to established guidelines and best practices.



Conduct consultations, examinations, and procedures as required.



Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.



Leadership and Management:



Provide leadership and supervision to junior medical staff, including Registrars, Junior Doctors, and other healthcare professionals.



Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care plans and treatment options.



Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols, guidelines, and quality improvement initiatives.



Education and Training:



Provide teaching and training to medical students, junior doctors, and other healthcare professionals.



Participate in educational activities such as grand rounds, case presentations, and seminars.



Mentor junior staff and provide guidance on career development and professional growth.



Research and Audit:



Participate in research projects and clinical trials within the specialty area.



Contribute to the development of evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines.



Participate in audit and quality improvement activities to monitor and enhance patient care standards.



Administrative Duties:



Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with NHS guidelines and policies.



Complete administrative tasks such as writing reports, attending meetings, and participating in service planning and development.



Compliance and Professional Development:



Ensure compliance with relevant professional standards, regulatory requirements, and NHS policies.



Engage in continuous professional development activities to keep abreast of advances in the specialty field and maintain professional registration.



Flexible Working:



As a locum consultant, the role may involve working across different NHS trusts or hospitals, filling temporary gaps in staffing or providing cover during periods of leave or vacancies.



 





  1. GMC Registration: Candidates must be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC), which is the regulatory body for doctors in the UK. Registration ensures that doctors meet the required standards of medical practice and professionalism.




  2. Specialty Training: To become a Consultant in a specific medical specialty, doctors must complete specialty training in that area. This usually involves several years of postgraduate training, including rotations in different clinical settings and passing specialty-specific exams. The length of training varies depending on the specialty.




  3. Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT): Following completion of specialty training, doctors obtain a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent qualification, which confirms their readiness to work as a Consultant in their chosen specialty.




  4. Clinical Experience: Candidates for Locum Consultant positions should have significant clinical experience within their specialty, demonstrating competence in diagnosing and managing a wide range of medical conditions.




  5. Communication and Leadership Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills are essential for working effectively within multidisciplinary teams, providing supervision and mentorship to junior staff, and engaging in educational activities.




  6. Flexibility and Adaptability: Given the nature of locum work, candidates should be flexible and adaptable to work in different clinical environments and settings, often at short notice.




  7. Right to Work in the UK: Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK. This may include UK citizenship, indefinite leave to remain, or an appropriate work visa.




  8. Compliance and Professional Development: Candidates must adhere to professional standards and undergo regular appraisal and revalidation processes to maintain GMC registration and practice privileges within the NHS.




  9. MUST HAVE RIGHT TO WROK IN UK 




  10. ATLEAST 1 YEAR OF CONSULTANT EXPERIENCE REQUIRED IN NHS




  11. TWO SUPPORTING REFERENCE FROM LAST THREE OF EMPLOYEMNTS.
