NVH test and validation engineer

Location: Peterborough / Hybrid
Salary: 24.95 per hour PAYE / 33.52 Umbrella
Term: 12 Month rolling contract

An exciting opportunity has opened up for a test and validation NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) engineer. You will engage in various validation tests within a dedicated workspace, providing employees with the flexibility to explore diverse fields in experimental and development test engineering based on their core skills and interests.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The NVH engineer will report directly to an engine platform NVH lead and receive support across various functional areas. The primary emphasis of the role lies in vibration and noise measurement at the Peterborough facility, with potential opportunities for travel to conduct tests at other Caterpillar or customer facilities.

Skills and Experience:

  • Take ownership of customer requests and comprehend their requirements fully.
  • Set up instrumentation for data acquisition, signal processing, analysis, technical report writing, and presentation.
  • Understanding of prescribed processes and a practical application of engineering principles.
  • Time management and self-motivation skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration with supporting technicians and the engineering customer are critical.
  • A Mechanical Engineering Degree with a minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in a related engineering role.
  • NVH experience is a prerequisite, although specific experience with industrial diesel engines is not mandatory.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in design, validation, or testing of combustion engines, either in a test cell environment with engine/chassis dyno or with industrial machines/vehicles.
  • Familiarity with Siemens Testlab software is advantageous, although proficiency in similar analysis packages will also be considered.
  • This role offers a dynamic environment where the engineer will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to the NVH engineering efforts within the SSD team, collaborating with a diverse and talented group of professionals.
