On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Java Developer for an initial 6 month contract based in London with remote work available.

Purpose of the Role:

As a Java Developer you will work alongside a development team that is responsible for the development of UI server side applications to support business functions. To further enhance the clients offering and to bring one of their older platforms into line with modern practices they are seeking to appoint a talented Java Developer with proven experience in software engineering.

Responsibilities of the role:

As a Java Developer you will be responsible for:

• Participate in the agile full based project software development life-cycle including technical analysis, documentation, development, testing and code reviews.
• Provide 3rd line application support on a rotation basis within the team.
• Collaborate with the production support team for release and maintenance of the applications.
• Work closely with the other developers in determining and following best development and architecture practice.
• Propose and provide feedback on implementation plans, and technology direction of the platform.
• Participate actively in collaborative team meetings and voice opinions.
• Maintain and further improve the quality of deliveries and secure iterations.
• Continuously improve the methods used.
• Fully participate in requirement and design meetings for new functionality.

What we require from the candidate:

• Strong Core Java (J2EE) development skills.
• Good knowledge of WebSphere, EJBs and other J2EE components.
• Good development skills and experience with JavaScript.
• Good development skills and experience with ExtJS.
